After receiving my Ph.D from Princeton, I held academic positions in Electrical Engineering at McGill University, University of Vermont, and University of Florida. During the 1989-1990 academic year I was a visiting scholar at Universite Catholique de Louvain, in Louvain-la-neuve, Belgium and at University of New South Wales, in Newcastle, Australia.
In 1997 I moved to the Boston area and made a career change and became a senior documentation specialist at The MathWorks, Inc. In 2000 I became a senior technical writer at I2, Inc. In 2001, I became a senior research scientist at SBI Moldyn, Inc. In 2003, I became a senior technical writer at Funk Software, Inc., which was acquired by Juniper Networks, Inc. in 2005. Since May of 2006, I have been a principal technical writer at Unica Corporation in Waltham, MA.
Outside of work I still enjoy gardening, cycling, swimming, XC skiing, going out to hear local Boston musicians, and, of course, writing.
You can find out about my 62 minute audio book of poems and lyrics the website linked below. (You can paste www.cdfreedcom.com/artists/carlaschwartz into your browser) The CD is called "I Could Love" which is of course a feminist joke.
