The Department Celebrates its 2016 PhD Graduates

On May 30, 2016 the EE Department celebrated 28 graduate students completing the PhD program in the past year.  Family and friends attended the breakfast reception with the students and faculty advisors to celebrate this milestone in the students education. Prof. Peter Ramadge, Director of Graduate Students in Electrical Engineering provided welcoming remarks and introduced this year's alumni speaker, Prof. Anthony Eprhemides *71, Distinguished University Professor and Cynthia Kim eminent Professor of Information Technology at the University of Maryland. Following the remarks,  Prof. Ramadge announced the graduate awards.  The Early Stage Career Award is given to students who have completed the second year of the program with an outstanding general exam grade.  This year’s recipient was Prashanth Venkataram, advised by Prof. Alejandro Rodriguez.  The Bede Liu Best Dissertation Award was presented to Chris Brinton, advised by Prof. Mung Chiang. The department also acknowledged the students that have completed the second year of the program and their general exams.  Prof. Ramadge and Prof. Malik presented the students completing the PhD program with a gift from the department.
